Hi Friends!
Have you ever had one of those days…or weeks where everything in your life is falling apart?
Yeah, me neither. 😏
There are at least a half dozen stories in various stages of drafty undress, just itching to be edited and shared with the world.
But unfortunately, my brain is quite mushy at the moment, so I’m sharing a few random thoughts with you instead.
Hope you like them 😊.
You said it. You meant it
Words don’t just tumble out of your head unintended — Tourette’s excluded. Notions are hatched, ideas spring forward, deep-seated feelings emerge, and underlying beliefs slip through while you speak.
Whether in casual conversation, an argument, you’re drunk, or just talking shit.
You said it. You meant it.
At some level, your words always convey your true feelings.
“But I didn’t mean it,” you say.
Stop.
You meant it. You just didn’t mean to SAY it.
Own it. Deal with it. Or don’t.
Bonus points for paying attention to how to talk to yourself.
It matters more than you think.
Your greatest strength is also your greatest weakness.
Whatever your superpower: focus, determination, ambition, intelligence, charisma, empathy — those strengths can also cripple you.
Hard workers don’t know when to stop and work themselves to exhaustion.
Highly intelligent people, often very structured and organized, miss the beauty in simple things, playful foolishness, and random events.
Deeply empathetic people expend so much emotional and physical energy caring for others they have nothing left for themselves.
Knowing your strengths is helpful, but be mindful of your limitations.
Weed the garden.
Tricky thing about weeds…
They defy definition.
What is a weed, really, other than something you don’t want?
In the garden, weeds crowd out the other plants we’re cultivating. They rob our cultivars of nutrients, water, and sunlight.
Weeds in the garden are easy to spot.
The weeds in our life?
Not so much.
Be mindful of the people, places, and things in your life that crowd out the people, places, and things that feed and sustain you.
Those are your life weeds.
Weeding our life hurts — especially when the weed is pulled for you or without your permission.
But just think of it this way…
Whatever that weed was, the space it leaves will only hurt until something more beautiful, more sustaining, and more life-giving grows in its place.
Cultivate that instead.
I love you guys 😊
