I didn’t have a name for it then, but there I was, hustling, running the streets— anything to make a buck.
Funny thing… If you tell yourself you can do something, you can. It can be anything, too—anything at all. You’ll figure it out.

The thing was, I loved it.
Every one was The One.
We’re perfect for each other. I get you. I know you inside and out.
Sure, that’s what you say you want.
But I know what you need, and I’m ready to give it to you. I’ll give it all to you and only you.
I’m going to be the best you’ve ever had.
I mean it, too.
Not because it’s a hustle. This is no hustle. Not this time, it’s not.
This time, it’s for real.
This time—it’s forever.
No one will ever take care of you like I will, and no one will work harder to please you.
No one.
But as much as I want it, it never lasts.
It’s not in the cards for me.
It’s never in the cards for me.
Retire?
Ha!
My goal has always been to write well enough to tell my stories.
Not because my stories are great.
But because the people in them deserve to be remembered as I remember them.
Some good.
Some bad.
Most both.
